Week 193: Expansion.

Expanding on your skill set can be quite hard when you are in a box that doesn't stretch. My current mindset does not match my skill set. The atmosphere that is clouding my mind is holding me back from reaching my potential. What do you do when you cannot break through that barrier? I suppose I could find away around it.

Dan.

This photo was taken for Hype's SS13 collection on Brick Lane, London. The reason I have posted this photo is due to it being taken in the centre of my old community, close to where I used to live. I loved the area and atmosphere of Shoreditch, Hoxton and East London in general. However, it was holding me back. It was a very closed community, much like the box I just mentioned. I want to break out and really see the world.

Week 192: Friendly Reminders.

This week I had to work at Hit The Deck Festival in Nottingham. Although it was a very hectic day, it was great to see some friendly faces that have been absent from my life for a while. These absences have only occurred because of my busy lifestyle. However, after so long of being away from my friends, nothing has changed. Everything is fantastic when I am in close proximity to them.

This is a photograph of one of my best friend's Adam, with his girlfriend Harrie. He understands love and he shows it. He loves that girl with all his heart. The main reason I value Adam as a friend, is that he wears his heart on his sleeve. He will express how he feels about a situation and not play games. He gets down to the point and makes sure that his feelings are known. You will always know where you stand with this guy. Both of us have been through a lot together, we've had hard times and great times but true friends never change. You don't have to know somebody for a long time for them to be a close friend. I've known Adam for about four years now and I would call him a closer friend than some people I've known my entire life.

Week 191: Back to work.

Taken time off work has made things really busy. It's stressing me out a little bit so I'm not going to take to long to write much down this week.

This is a photograph of Ben from Private Jet. I did a shoot for them at a much less stressful time in my life. In fact, that particular day changed me a lot. It's a good reminder that I need to just get my head down and take pictures.

Week 190: Post-birthday.

So my birthday was brilliant. Paris was brilliant. Spent it with the one person I care about. Things are going well for me and I'm enjoying it. I've never really decided to express myself verbally in front of people unless there isn't any reason or logic behind what I am about to say. However, with this one person, I tell them what is truly going through my mind. Whether it is nonsense or completely composed thought. I love that.

Thanks for reading

Dan.

This a previously unreleased photograph of Robert from the Hackney Road shoots. He's a good guy that speaks his mind, and it's never anything negative. It reminds me of the way I'm feeling at the moment.

Week 189: 23.

So it's coming up to my 23rd Birthday. Most people know about the 23 enigma. It's been following me my whole life, a lot of people say I do it for attention since the film starring Jim Carey came out. However, it's been haunting me a lot longer than that. I see it everywhere, and even when it isn't there, it's still there! I can make it out of almost any combination of numbers I see. I wonder what this year has in store for me.

Thanks
Dan.

After 23 years of living I've decided there's nothing like companionship. I used to walk passed these bushes every day on the way to work in London. Being the same height and shape, I guessed these guys have spent most of there life together in the same spot and have been perfectly happy.

Week 188: Going well.

Not much to say this week apart form things are going well, my head is a little clearer and I'm pushing on through. Things are going great at Hype.

This is the liquor cabinet at my house in Reading. There's nothing special about this picture apart from connotations to my own memories. It reminds me of my childhood. It always used to rattle when people walked past and I was never allowed to look inside. I was always told not to shake it because everything inside was fragile. These are probably some of my earliest memories.

Week 187: Busy lifestyle.

I've always been a busy guy. This is quite a busy lifestyle I've got myself into. It's hectic and demanding but I sincerely enjoy it. I am quite dextrous and diverse with my skills, everything comes with thought and planning so I don't find it difficult. I find it extremely exciting.

This photograph was taken in the desert next to the dead sea. There was no conceptual reason for taking it apart from the fact it reminded me of a few things. It reminded me of a scene from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, where R2-D2 gets captured by Jawas. It also reminded me of a scene from one of the Indiana Jones films, I'm not sure which one. I think it may have been Raiders of the Lost Ark, where there is a convoy of vehicles transporting the Ark of The Covenant  However, I'm probably mistaken. Strange how both of those films starred Harrison Ford.
