Week 182: Mutual feelings.

I like the feeling of feeling completely understood by someone. I don't necessarily mean a partner or a lover. Just in general, when you meet somebody new or when you've known somebody your whole life. If they understand you, they understand you.

Sometimes I have conversations with people and it feels like they are just waiting for their turn to speak, there is no counter conversing or even acknowledgement of what I have just said. Sometimes after a day of speaking to people you meet one person that understands that you want reactions, that you are being listening to and they know that you will be doing the same when they speak. When this happens it almost washes through me like a wave of excitement. I then lose all sense of conversation etiquette and getting fully involved with the subject. I will talk passionately about my interests/emotions and will react passionately to the other person's words.

I love losing myself in a mutual conversation and it's a rare occurrence these days.

Week 181: Non-stop.

So if you know me, you know that I work for Hype Clothing now. I went out to New York again to represent the team at the Agenda trade-show on Mercer Street, Soho. Although it was hectic and a completely new experience for me. I learned a lot and I kept my head down and worked hard. I shot whilst I was out there and met some great people. I also managed to meet up with some old friends for these shoots and we all worked together to get the best shots for the look book.

After the week was up, all the business was done on my part and all the shots were taken on my part. I had to get a flight back to Heathrow with all the clothing samples. I made my flight with literally a minute to spare. As soon as I was to land I then had to head straight to another trade-show in London.

My plane landed at around 8:30am and I had to be at the show in Olympia for 9:00am on the dot. So after a frantic jet-lagged rush, collecting three huge suitcases of luggage on my own and hopping in a taxi. I finally made it to Olympia to meet my other colleagues who were eagerly waiting for me to set up.

After all of this I had another weekend of doing business and meeting buyers for the clothing line. I'm not going to lie, I never really saw myself as a wholesaler when I was back at university learning about the creative psychology of image-making. I won't stop taking photographs and I won't stop this blog, this is just a different venture towards something I have a lot of faith in.

A picture from Central Park during the Hype shoots out there. Although very fast and hectic, I met some great people, learnt some interesting things about society and also got very drunk.

Week 180: Travelling again.

So once again, it's time for me to head back to New York city. It's been a while since I went back there and I am there on business this time. My new job has allowed me travel back and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to see it once more. If you've read this often, you would have seen that my last stay in NYC was somewhat sad but also somewhat enlightening. It was a turning point in my life that gave me the ambition and drive that has subsequently taken me back there. I miss the important people from back home, and I will see them soon. I will enjoy myself whilst it lasts and put in a lot of hard work where I can whilst having this short break from the people I know and love.

Thanks for keeping up.
Dan.

This is a photograph taken from my last stay in the big apple in 2011. Taken on the day of the memorial service for the 9/11 bombings. A young man that reminded me of a young Bob Dylan, I then noticed the fact he was holding two phones and reading a book. I'm not sure what this kid's purpose might have been, however I like to give him my own story.

Week 179: A New Year.

This might be a bit late for actually posting this on New Year's Day. However, I have been very busy as you have no doubt guessed. I made the move, I accomplished the jump. I've moved out of London and on to Leicester.

Okay, at first you might think... "WHAT?! Why would anybody do such a thing?" or be suprised at my decision. I have a good reason for moving out of such a busy, self-driven city. This reason will slowly unfold as the pictures unravel.

As for the new year. I've never been one for resolutions. I just want to maintain happiness in a different setting. My life is about has completely changed and I'm happy about it. I just need to keep that positivity rolling!

Desert roads always fascinated me on my travels. I'm not sure why but they connected me with my goals and I can only thank them for that.
